Have you ever thought of what life is or the purpose of life here on earth before? I hope yes, if not then you need to do it, for it would change your whole life and make life here on earth meaningful to you and you’ll know how to live your life here on earth. You will then know what is worth living for and how to live. Yes, friend that is the truth. See here in the Psalms what David says about what life is, that he said, “Thy loving-kindness is better than life”. What is this life that David is talking about, that in comparing it to the loving-kindness of God he says the loving-kindness of God is better. You know, for many years, brilliant Philosophers have discussed and speculated about the meaning of life, which they remain clueless even until today unless they come to Christ. Philosophy as good as it may be or it is, when it comes to determining the purpose of life, even the wisest Philosophers are just guessing. This shows that life has some connections with God; there lies a mystery around it. And anything that cannot be explained or understood and remains mysterious might be connected to the Supernatural. Because, the Supernatural cannot be explained. If it could, then, it no long remains a Supernatural.
If so, then why is David saying that “thy loving-kindness is better than life”, this is because there is nothing seemingly better than life. What could you estimate more precious than life? Because, life is God or it is associated with God. We wonder, then, the word life must have a compound meaning then, or that what is to be real life has been misinterpreted to us. For life itself means ‘existence’. So then, if David says that, then what could be any better or worth having? Because, God alone has eternal life or He alone is life. He is the EL-ELOHIM – “the self existing one”. He, is life; by Him we all live and have our being. And we found out that in John10:28 where Jesus said “I give unto them eternal life”, the word, “eternal life”, comes from the Greek word ‘ZOE’. And Zoe is God. So that is God’s own life, or God himself. Hence, as sure as, we are part of Zoe or have Zoe, we can exist eternally like God. And we can only be part of Zoe, or this Life of God by birth, the new birth. To be born again! By this I don’t mean this make belief that we call it “born-again” today. This kind of soft and babied thing. No! I mean a total separation from everything the word of God is against and doing what is “HIS WILL”.
For Jesus didn’t say those who dance, sing, speak in tongues or whatsoever but those that know and does the will of the Father, (Matt7:21, 1Thess5:17). And He also said, “if you love Me, in other words, if you are really born-again you will obey my commandments”-John14:15. Not the interpretation put to it by any Pastor. For He said if any man will break up any of this commandments and teach men to do that, he shall not be worthy of the Gospel.– Matt5:19, Jas2:10. If the word then says, women must not wear that which belong to a man you better not put any interpretations to that, and say “the zip for the female trousers is at the right”. For that is madness and nonsense. What is the importance of a flap or zip on a woman’s trousers to a woman, or better show me where the zip to a man’s skirt or brassiere is located. Tell me and get yourself out from that madness. If he says, “flee fornication”, you better obey. Because, to obey is better than sacrifice. Don’t try to have an affair with her to claim to be testing how she would taste if you marry her or to know whether she would be fertile or not. You better watch it for that is sin, which ever motive you may have for doing that. There is nothing like premarital sex. It is a deception from the devil. He did it to Adam and Eve and that is what has caused the present state of the universe. And God would not overlook it if we do the same thing, that is, when we try to sin willfully after we have the Knowledge of the truth. – Heb10:26-31. Let’s come to our subject now. Read 1Jn2:17, Pr16:20.
Now only God has a never ending life, because He never had a beginning of life. So for us to live eternally, we must have the new birth, a transformation from the things and ideas of the world and not a conformation to the things and ideas of the world. Jesus explained in John 3, that except a man is born again of water and of the Spirit he can by no means enter into the Kingdom of God. There is no man can separate such from God, for they have become a part of Him, then. So when we say life, this is what it is. Because, the Bible says, “in Him is life”, and that life is the light of men. See? Therefore, TO KNOW HIM IS LIFE. If so, then it is obvious that until we are in Him, we have no life; neither do we know what life is. No Jesus no life. Yes, that is the truth. Even we can’t live physically without God, because the Bible says in Him we live and have our being.—Acts17:28. But now, what do we see as life today?
But now, what do we see as life today? Everyone wants to think of life, and the word life, has had it perverted aspect, or have been perverted. It has been misinterpreted to us. Because, many times people want to refer to life as having a big time, drinking, riling, and going out for some ‘WILD’ party. And they say, “This is life”. But how mistaken they are. That’s death. See? It is not life. It’s death, because 1Tim5:6 says, “she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives”. And the Bible is against wild parties, that is, reveling. And it says all those that does that, cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:19-21.
What they call life today is to see a man or a boy going around with his arms around some girls or women and flirting and living all sort of immoral life around them. Fornicating, eating big or rich, and drinking all sort of alcoholic beverages. And they say, “This is life”. Then they also say, “Life begins when the sun goes down or when the lights are out”. No! Death rather begins when the sun goes down. For 1Thess5:4-11, and Eph5:1-21 say, we are children of the light and not of darkness and it is even a shame to talk of what the disobedient do in darkness. But this world, today, calls the works of darkness good or pleasure and comfort. But is that really true, at all? No! But you see, if Satan has a kingdom, he has got to have a false economy. He’s got to have something that he can present to them, to make them think they are living, which isn’t true. It’s absolutely on the opposite side. It’s death, in the form of life. It’s a perversion from the real life. For Rev3:1,2 says, “you have a name that you are living but you are dead and know it not”. They paint their faces and lips, shave all their eyebrow, put on some earrings and they think that makes them look good and nice before God, something that He hates. For painting is heathenism. And when they paint their faces it means they are at war with God. You just ask the Indians. You tattoo your body with a whole lot of symbols. And you call that life and your Pastor tells you, you are sweet and then you are happy. Poor you, repent else you shall perish. (Jer4:30,31, Lev20:22,23, 19:28, Deut14:1, Eph4;17-24, 1Jn2:13-17).
You may be sweet or beautiful to him, because his spiritual eyes are dim. You say what? Oh, yes, of course. Do you think he is spiritual at all, because he can prophesy or do great miracles and healing? Then I’m sorry. For a spiritual person is the one who knows the word of God and applies it at work. For Paul said, if any man be spiritual let him know that the things that I write unto you are of the Lord and anyone that ignores them shall also be ignored. You see? And no scripture is of private interpretation. – (1Cor14:37, 1Pt1:19-21)
Brother, sister, there is no life in that, and 1Thess5:22 says, “shun every appearance of evil”. Because anything that has evil in it is associated with death. Yes, sir! Death lays right there! And as you partake of that you are partaking of death. Yes, because, you can bear me out that this that they call life – could get them so nervous till they want to take their own life. They think and get so upset until it runs them mad. This is the kind of life that David is talking about, that the loving-kindness of the Lord is better than. If it is associated with the true life, which is God, how would God’s life want to take your life? Or how can you take God’s life away. That kind of life cannot be associated with God, it is the devil. ( Read Pr16:17)
But the question is why do they do that at all? The answer is this; it is because of A THIRST. Yes, sir! That is true. God apart from the physical thirst that He put in us, He also created a spiritual thirst in us. A godly thirst, that we should thirst for Him, for righteousness-Matt5:6. But the devil have perverted it, and made it a thirst for his kingdom, the things of the world. And, because, the thirst in us is godly, we have no right, to dare, to satisfy it with the things of the world like drinking, smoking, TELEVISION, reveling, womanizing, prostitution and every kind of worldly comfort. No wonder after sometime, we find out that they do not satisfy at all. And never can they satisfy us in any way. That is why you get so frustrated and you try to kill yourself. You get more confused after taking that drink or cigarette, you thought could have satisfy you and soothe all your pain away and get you away from all your troubles. And the world today is on great suicide and manslaughter, more perversion, like homosexuality and lesbians. Crime in the land, all because they have perverted the very thing that God has given them and they are trying to satisfy it with the evils of this world. You take that blessed Holy Thing that God placed in your soul to thirst for Him, and you satisfy it with a night club somewhere. No wonder you got a headache the next morning.
Let’s settle the thing in our minds now, once and forever. There is only one way we can have life, and that is to know Him, not His gift or even His word, but to know the Giver of the gift and the Writer of the Word. That is the only way we can have life and no other way, for God has promised life through Jesus Christ. And this is not to recognize Him, just as a good person; or just worship Him, as He would be worshipped as God, but to know Him, because the devils also worship Him, but they have no life. It is to know Him, personally, in the pardoning of your sins, and the renewing of your life, by His Spirit, that fountain of all the resources of goodness dwelling in you. God making you to bring the fruits of Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, Goodness, Gentleness, Meekness, Patience, Faith and all those great attributes that come from God alone.
That is the only way that you can have life. Life is God – not getting a new car or drinking, having a date with a girl or a boyfriend or getting a lot of money or attending birthday parties or big jams. Strive to get the life of God in you; for that is where your eternal life lays; else you perish forever and ever. Be wise and make that kind of investment now, else it will be too late for you one of these days. It’s three minutes to mid night. It is later than you think!
